A sweater has converted into a cushion cover

A sweater has converted into a cushion cover, 50 x 50 cm (19 1/2" x 19 1/2")

A few days ago I found 18 knitted sweaters which I made about 30 to 32 years ago. That time the fashion was different - flowers, stripes, stars, abstract motifs,... and nevertheless the shape of the sweaters was wide and straight. For me today not to dress. So I decided to make Cushion covers out of the sweaters. At the beginning it was difficult to cut into the handknit, but finally I made the decision to do it. So I received a nice cushion cover after one hour crafting. Then I made a second one. I show you how easy the making is...

Material for 1 cushion cover:

1 oversized sweater

Interfacing ribbon for ironing on, 50 cm (19 1/2")

1 zipper, 50 cm (19 1/2") - invisbel or normal

Tulle ribbon, about 2,5 cm x 260 cm (1" x 105")

Polyester thread

Instruction:

Prepare the oversized sweater

Steam it, then cut out 2 squares of 52 x 52 cm (20 1/2" x 20 1/2")

Iron on an interfacing ribbon on each lower edge.

Fix  each edge with a zig zag or overlock seam.

Then pin the zipper and sew it --> Foto.

The finished zipper...

You can finish the seam allowances with a zig zag or overlock stitch or you sew on a tulle ribbon and fold it over, fix it with small stitches by hand on the back side.

Make a few for your living room...
