Summer Visor
Material:
Put the layers together, on both sides you see the nice cotton now (right side of fabric). The part with the ironed on interfacing is on top (upper side).
Make a seam around the inner edge --> foto.
and another seam on the outer edge - narrow to the edge --> foto.
Around the outer edge pin the bias tape on the upper side
and sew it .
On the back side sew on the bias tape by hand --> foto.
For the headband prepare a piece of cotton fabric 50 x 8,5 cm (19 3/4" x 3 1/4"), fold it. (seam allowance is included).
For thinner cotton materials prepare a piece of the padded interfacing 50 x 4 cm (19 3/4" x 1 1/2").
(For heavier cotton fabric use only micro interfacing or light interfacing).
Iron on the interfacing just on one half side of the cotton piece.
Pin the cotton stripe to the upper side of the visor (middle to middle) --> foto.
Follow the explanation on the foto.
Turn both ends to right side, fold the seam allowance of the open part to inside, pin it, then sew it by hand.
Prepare the middle piece for the visor. Therefore cut out a piece of cotton fabric 15 x 5 cm (6" x 2"), (seam allowance is included) ,fold it lengthwise on wrong side, sew it, turn it. Then insert the elastic (it is easy with a safety pin) and fix one end with the sewing machine.
Fold the seam allowance of the stripe on one side, then insert the middle piece and sew it.
Now pin the other end of the middle piece to the other side of the stripe. Then try it on if the size fits. If not change it until it fits.
Then fix it also with the sewing machine, in the same way as the other side. If you desire you can sew on your label.
Enjoy the summer with your new Visor!
