Crochet Christmas Owls, 5,5 x 6 cm (2 1/4" x 2 1/2")

Abbreviation: ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
Instruction:
Start with a magic ring in silver color for the body of the owl.
1st row: 6 sc into the magic ring
2nd row: 2 sc into each st of previous row --> 12 sc
3rd row: *2 sc into 1st sc, 1 sc into the next sc*, repeat* --> 18 sc
4th row: *2 sc into 1st sc, 1 sc into the next 2 sc*, repeat* --> 24 sc
5th row: 1 sc into each sc of previous row --> 24 sc
6th row: *2 sc into 1st sc, 1 sc into the next 3 sc*, repeat* --> 30 scAfter a few crochet rows owl body looks like a small cap.
7th - 12th row: 1 sc into each sc of previous row --> each row has 30 sc.
Now you can change to gold color.
13th row: *sc2tog, 1 sc into next 3 sc*, repeat* --> 24 sc
Now you can change to gold color.

14th + 15th row: 1 sc into every sc of previous row --> you still have 24 sc in each row.
Before you close the owls body fill in some interfacing material or dacron fleece --> foto.
16th row: *sc2tog, 1 sc into next 4 sc*, repeat* --> 20 sc
17th + 18th row: 1 sc into every sc of previous row --> you will have 20 sc in each row.
Then close the body with last row, flat it a bit and as written on instruction.
Make the stuffed body a bit flat, then close it as follows (you have 10 sc in double): 1 sc, then into the next 8 sc of the previous row work a sl st and then finish with a sc. --> these are the ears of the owl.
Now prepare 2 wings in gold color. Start with a magic ring.

1st row: 1 ch, 5 sc into the magic ring --> it is only ahalf circle, because you work in rows, after each row turn the work.
2nd row: 1 ch, 1 sc into 1st sc of previous row, 2 hdc into nex sc, 3 dc into next sc, 2 hdc into next sc, 1 sc into last sc.
3rd row: 1 ch, 1 sc into 1st 3 sts, 2 sc in each of the next 3 sts, 1 sc into next 3 sts.
Sew on the wings, each on one side of the finished owl. Use polyester thread. Weave in all ends.

Prepare eyes and a beak as shown on the foto - cut them out of felt and fix them with glue on owl.
Make a short loop on top of owl for hanging on Christmas Tree.
